JEWISH HEROINES IN ARNOŠT LUSTIG'S WORK

The Main goal of this thesis is the comparison of fates of the Jewish heroes in the Second world war. I will compare five selected proses written by Arnost Lustig. My focus will be on the fates of the Jewish women during the second world war and how this extreme experience affected their characters and moral believes. The source of the thesis will be the listed primary literature, which was selected to show the uniqueness and individuality of so strong experience, which the second world war and holocaust definitely was. Concurrently, it demonstrates the fact that under influence of their shared fate, are the heroes of the stories in many ways very similar. I will also focus on the questions regarding the dignity and morality and how the Jewish woman deals with their lost of personal and life assurances.

Jewish Trilogy in Arnošt Lustig's Work

This bachelor thesis deals with three proses by Arnošt Lustig forming the Jewish Trilogy: Lea from Leeuwarden, Colette, the girl from Antwerp and Tanga from Hamburg. Lustig's characters are presented and their basic typology is determined. The focus is then moved to the female characters of the Jewish Trilogy. The thesis follows their development, characteristics and position among other author's female protagonists. In each story, development of basic narrative categories (the narrator, characters, time and space), recurring themes and use of language and style are discussed. The conclusion focuses on the mutual comparison of the books, and it also deals with the theme of eroticism and sex in Lustig's work. More details are also provided on author's life because his work is closely related with it. Rudolf Daniel: The Violin and the Horse. Historical analysis of the manuscript with regard to social acitivities of the author in the post-war Romani ethno-emancipatory movement in Czechoslovakia

This thesis focuses on the manuscript entitled The Violin and the Horse, and pursues two approaches: one is based on the Romani studies, the other on the methods of the history science. Its aim is to verify historical facts contained in the manuscript. The main presumption of the thesis is the attribution of the text to Rudolf Daniel - the thesis verifies autobiographical data and its cultural and social context. The paper systematically concentrates on the figure of Rudolf Daniel (born 1911 in Oslavany - died in 1978 in Brno) and his biography (entirely unknown so far). The context of the manuscript The Violin and the Horse is framed by the post-war Roma ethno-emancipatory movement, and Rudolf Daniel is a newly discovered figure of its history. The picture of concentration camps in Czech prose of the 50/s

This master's thesis The picture of concentration camps in Czech prose of the 50's analyses selected literary works from 1950᾿s. These works are presented by different author's approaches from presented reality. First part of this work focuses on concept of "Holocaust" and on possibility of its verb representation as well. Another part of thesis deals with development of "literature with topic of Holocaust" from 1945 to contemporary times. The emphasis is placed to the texts from 1950᾿s and 1960᾿s that had formed reader's memory. Next chapter observe a permeation and reciprocal influencing of historical and fictional discourse. The picture of life in Nazi concentration camps, the author's character creation as well as representation of Jewishness are analyzed in these works: A Box of Lives by Norbert Frýd, Osm odtamtud by E. The relation of Pope Pius XII. to the questions of the Nazism and Holocaust during World War II

The aim of the bachelor thesis is an attempt to analyze and objectively assess the attitudes of the Catholic Church led by Pope Pius XII to the question of the Holocaust and Nazism during World War II. To achieve the stated objective, a compilation of historical description will be used as the main method, while the assessment will be based on recognition, characterization and interpretation of the most distinctive differences in the perception of the role of Pius XII during World War II, particularly in relation to Nazism and the Holocaust. Another reason for choosing this topic is an effort to interpret major themes which greatly influenced the development of policies of the Holy See during World War II. In the first chapter there are some important concepts characterized and also the base character of Vatican as a political entity. The second chapter focuses on the person of Pius XII. and his role in the signing of the Reich Concordat. The third chapter monitors the development of the Vatican policy shortly before the outbreak of the Second World War until its end. The following chapter focuses on the reasons that could have had an impact on the attitude of the Holy See in relation to Nazism and the Holocaust. The thesis dedicates to teaching the Holocaust in literature lectures in secondary schools in Rakovník district. It summarizes the development of Czech Holocaust literature and shows how this topic is included in the educational documents. The main aim is the analysis of textbooks and readers used in the lectures of literature in secondary schools. The thesis includes the research on teaching the Holocaust in Rakovník district and the evaluation of individual data, which contains teaching methods, content and use of textbooks and other teaching materials.
